Holmeswood is a church affiliated with the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship located in Southwest Kansas City. We're easily accessible from almost anywhere in the city as we're only a few blocks north of I-435 on Holmes Road.
At HBC, you'll find ministries designed for all age groups and a church that wants to keep its sense of community with one another through a shared life centered on our mission and vision. We are a missions-minded church by being active with local, regional and worldwide ministry partnerships. It's our habit to practice missional thinking and then to find practical ways of being connected to our dreams.
Holmeswood has a rich heritage of community involvement that gives meaning to our belief in a well-balanced life. We believe the mind should be as open as the heart. We believe every person is responsible to God for their own habits of faith. We believe the church is free to follow its own path without outside authorities or denominational structures. We believe faith is inner belief and a lived life of service to our world.

The Power to Re-Imagine
Holmeswood is courageously asking of itself, "What new future do we need to live?" We've adopted the word Re-Imagine as the constant reminder that God is always working anew in the world and the tension that creates for a church based on a faith that has been handed down from one generation to another. So we're considering in what ways we retain what we've received from a previous generation while also considering that God is One who is constantly breathing new life into old things. We're hoping to open ourselves up to a future that likely won't resemble the past with an interest in being fully alive, fully present for God's fresh new winds to blow in our midst.
We've identified three focal points for Re-Imagining our church in anticipation of how God is renewing us .
Heart - the life of a Christian is always in renewal if one is true to the calling of Christ among us. We're seeking to renew our lives as an active sign that we believe Christ is alive in us, dynamically breathing new life into us
Building - Holmeswood is actively developing a plan of renewal of our facilities for the needs of the future. We've recently adopted a long-range plan with the help of a local architectural team who helped us think and dream about this old wineskin and the new wine of God's ministries for us in the future.
Community - While the church has a geographical center where we meet at our location at 97th and Holmes, the church exists wherever its members go throughout the week. We become a dispersed community from Sunday to Sunday. But we also admit that the heart of that geographical base for ministry is centered in our local area where we are busily involved in ministering in a wide-ranging and generous way with partnerships we've been nurturing for years now. It's exciting to see how HBC is working for the good of the neighborhood. Come explore with us how God may want to partner with us for these purposes.
